In November 2022, I presented a two-week workshop about creating an Augmented Reality mural for graduate and undergraduate graphic design students at The California Institute of the Arts, CA. Each student made a printed interactive illustration about their or their ancestors’ immigration stories and installed them on the wall using wheat paste. When audiences scanned each image via phone, the short animations narrating their stories appeared on their screen. It created the magical feeling of mixing physical and virtual worlds.
